Restarting the Sensitive OTTB Mare Lola

This playlist follows the real-life journey of Elke, a teenage rider, and her off-the-track Thoroughbred mare Lola, as we work together to restart Lola from the ground up and lay the foundation for a confident, connected partnership. I support Elke and Lola in building a strong, ethical partnership based on trust, communication, and emotional awareness.

Lola came into Elke’s life with a lot of uncertainty. Likely started too quickly under saddle and pushed past her emotional limits, she learned to protect herself by using fight when she doesn’t understand or feels unsafe. While she’s sweet-natured and willing, she lacks confidence and trust. Her reactions can include rearing, pushing into pressure, or running you over.

Elke is a thoughtful, kind young rider learning how to advocate for her horse while building her own confidence, feel and timing. Her dream? To one day jump together. Not just technically, but as a true team.

My role in this journey is to:

• Support Lola in developing clarity, softness, and emotional safety
• Guide Elke in learning to lead with intention, empathy, and grounded presence
• Build a shared language that supports the long-term goal of jumping with trust and flow

These sessions aren’t about quick fixes or obedience. They’re about healing, listening, and growing for both horse and rider.
